Ch\u00e2teau de Cormatin, located in southern Burgundy<\/a> between Tournus and Cluny<\/a>, stands majestically amid enchanting gardens and picturesque water features. When it was built in the early 17th century, the Marquis d’Huxelles aimed to demonstrate their power and prestige.<\/p>

Indeed, the imposing edifice, flanked by a wide moat, turrets, a high embossed plinth, gunports and a drawbridge, is strikingly imposing. The French nobility of the 17th century found in it a perfect representative of their art of living. Opening times vary according to the season, from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 5:30pm to continuous opening from 10am to 6pm at the height of summer. Groups are welcome from March 15 to November 30, provided they book in advance. <\/p>

A visit to Ch\u00e2teau de Cormatin includes a one-hour guided tour of the 17th-century apartments, the grand staircase, the 1900 library and the kitchen. This is followed by a 30-45 minute stroll through the lush gardens. <\/p>

Two price options are available: a full tour at \u20ac12 for adults, and a partial tour at \u20ac8. Reduced rates are available for students, jobseekers, young people and children, with free admission for children under 6 accompanied by their parents.
